Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 Month BT Offer - by James , Aug 20, 2017

I've been using the Double cash card for awhile. The rewards are okay. But Citi bank doesn't seem to be good at watching for fraud acitivity. I was making purchasing in California, where I live, and the same days I was making purchases in Cali someone was using Uber using Dominican peso charging it to my card. Citi bank didn't catch that. 20-30 charges for Uber were made to my account using Dominican peso for the month of July. Citi bank didn't even call to ask if that was me. Also, last month I was charged twice for Netflix. I don't have Netflix. My understanding is they only charge once a month. I think it being charged twice in a month should of alerted them, but no. I discovered the bad charges on my bill, and Citi bank removed them. I begged them to please send me an updated bill, so and can pay my full bill on time. And they didn't do it. They sent me a couple of notices that told me to just pay the minimum payment of around $25.00. After I had explained to them that I want to pay my full bill on time so I don't have to pay interest and so my credit score doesn't go up. They couldn't even send me an updated bill, as I requested, after they dropped the ball and didn't catch the clearly fraudulent charges. I researching to get a new credit card now. This happened like 2 weeks ago and they still haven't got me a new card. They said they would, but I'm still waiting.

Excellent rewards card. Unlike most other cards the DoubleCash offers virtual account numbers for use online. If James (the review critiquing CitiBank's fraud detection) had been using those, he wouldn't have fraud on his card in the first place.

This card has been amazing the entire time I've had it. The customer service has always been very helpful and it is easy to access my cash back. You can get it back as a statement credit, check, or deposited back into the account you use to pay your statement. As long as you don't pay any interest on your purchases everything really adds up. The only complaint I have about this card is the rewards aren't available after they post. You must wait until your statement posts. From time to time they offer balance transfer rates that are pretty good. They've ranged from 0% interest rate for about a year plus a 3% fee all the way up to 15%. The app is simple, very easy to navigate and understand. I did have one issue with someone making purchases on my account that was not me but CITI caught it, shut it down, and expressed me another card all in the SAME day. For people who pay their balance on time with no interest being charged, this card is great. The only card that beats this, that I know of, is the alliant visa signature card. They offer 3% cash back the first year with no annual fee, then 2.5% after that with a $59 annual fee. If you spend at least $1000/month then its worth it to get the alliant card. citi card $1000/mo X 2% = $20/month or $240/year. alliant $1000/month X 2.5% = $25/month or $300/year. 300-240 = $60 - $59 annual fee = $1. Anything over $1000/month you come out better than just using the citi card.
